Live Web Research Workshop, Fall 2023

Whether you are just starting and wanting to know more about Genealogy or you're a veteran researcher building your skills, this class can help you organize your thoughts and direct your research in a very systematic and logical way. The topics cover three main areas: 1) What sources are available for research, 2) How to pick out the information you need from sources, and 3) How to organize your thoughts and direct your research in the most efficient ways. Prerequisite: None.

Required Text: 

1) The Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy, 4th Edition, by Val D. Greenwood.

The Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy, 4th Edition

This is a comprehensive study of these sources as well as other related records and their uses in proving genealogical connections. Case studies from these sources will be studied and applied to research situations. Prerequisite: None.

This course helps students learn how to understand and use the Research Outlis prepared by The Family History Library for these areas:  Great Britain, Scandinavia, Central Europe.  Languages spoken:  English, Welsh, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Greenlandic, German, French, Dutch (Netherlands).

This course helps students learn how to understand and use the Research Outlines for France, Italy. Oriental, counties,  Spain, American Indian and Black Southern States Genealogical Research = 2 semester credit hours, and prepared by The Family History Library for the above areas.
